Glacier Gorge

Yesterday, I snowshoed with a club group to Black Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park. It was a day of crystalline snow, blazing sunshine and deep blue sky. The hike up through Glacier Gorge is one of my favorites, but this was my first time in winter. The snow accentuated the jagged lines of this glacier-carved basin. We hiked across the frozen expanses of Mills, Jewel and Black lakes. At Black Lake, Longs Peak towered above us, with small clouds moving across the deep blue sky behind its square top.
