Mr. Watkins, being weary of his life as a city planner in Colorado, and having learned about photography and writing to some minor extent, undertook to travel abroad in the world and to record what he found in unusual places.
On a mid-May hike I led in Golden Gate Canyon State Park, there was snow on the ground, and storms threatened. They never came. I snapped some shots with my pocket camera.
