Over 4th of July weekend, we started hiking north
into the Mount Zirkel Wilderness from Buffalo Pass on the Wyoming Trail, which
is part of the Continental Divide Trail.
The trail took us through open meadows with scattered trees. We saw many wildflowers including Glacier Lilies. We
stopped for lunch at a pond, so typical of the part of the Continental Divide. The trail ran up and down over several high
points and early in the afternoon we rounded a bend to find the whole
wilderness spread out before us. On the
highest saddle we found the junction with the trail down to Luna Lake.
